Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains what personal data I collect when you visit synnedesign.com, sign up for my newsletter or buy something from me – and how I take care of it. I've tried to keep it as clear and simple as possible.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is:

SynneDesign AS (run by Synnøve Nygård)
Organisation number: 832 481 092
Strømsæthersvei 31, 1715 Yven, Norway
Email: [email protected]

SynneDesign AS is a Norwegian company, so this policy follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as it applies in Norway, and the Norwegian Personal Data Act.

2. What data I collect

  • Contact details – usually your name and email address, sometimes a phone number, when you sign up for my newsletter, download a free resource, contact me or buy something.
  • Purchase information – what you bought, when, and your billing details. Payments are handled by secure payment providers; I never see or store your full card details.
  • Communication – messages you send me by email, through forms, on social media or during a Book a nerd session.
  • Usage data – how you use the website and whether you open or click my emails, collected through cookies and similar technology (see section 5).

I don't collect sensitive personal data, and I never sell your data to anyone.

3. Why I use your data, and the legal basis

  • Sending you my newsletter, Design Inspiration, with Canva tips, design ideas and news about my courses and services – based on your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Delivering what you've bought – courses, sessions and other products, plus customer service – because it's necessary to fulfil our agreement (Article 6(1)(b)).
  • Bookkeeping and accounting – because I'm required by law to keep certain records, for example under the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act (Article 6(1)(c)).
  • Answering your questions and improving my website, content and services, including occasional surveys – based on my legitimate interest in running and developing my business (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Statistics and marketing cookies – based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Who I share your data with

I use a few trusted services to run my business. They process data on my behalf and only according to my instructions:

  • Kajabi – hosts my website, courses, forms and emails
  • Stripe and PayPal – secure payments
  • Zoom – online sessions such as Book a nerd
  • Google – email and website statistics (Google Analytics)
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) – measuring and showing relevant ads
  • Canva – design work
  • Fiken – accounting

I may also share data with my accountant or auditor, or with public authorities when the law requires it.

Transfers outside Europe: some of these services are based in the USA. When your data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is protected by approved safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. I use:

  • Necessary cookies – so the website, login and checkout work (Kajabi, Stripe).
  • Statistics cookies – to understand how visitors use the site (Google Analytics).
  • Marketing cookies – to measure and improve my ads (Meta Pixel).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the website may not work properly without necessary cookies.

6. How long I keep your data

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Customers: for as long as you have access to a product, and as long as needed for customer service.
  • Accounting records: for as long as Norwegian law requires (currently up to five years).

When I no longer need your data, I delete it.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data I have about you
  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete
  • Delete your data, unless I'm required by law to keep it
  • Restrict or object to how I use your data
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from my emails

Just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll get back to you within 30 days.

If you think I'm not handling your data correctly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or the data protection authority in your own country. I'd love the chance to fix it first, though, so please reach out to me.

8. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top always shows when it was last changed.

9. Questions?

If you have any questions about your privacy, send me an email at [email protected]. Happy to help!
